Andretti United Extreme E to support Peace One Day’s Climate Action Live
Andretti United Extreme E will support Peace One Day’s Climate Action Live – an informative and creative event that facilitates high-level conversations with key influencers and sets out practical action points for individuals and organisations to engage with climate action.
Climate Action Live will take place on Monday 21 June and Andretti United Extreme E drivers Catie Munnings and Timmy Hansen will both speak at the virtual forum, helping to facilitate conversations that lead to a more sustainable world.
Catie and Timmy will join a long list of hugely successful individuals who will speak at the event including Hollywood actor Jude Law, former President of Ireland Mary Robinson, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet and singer/songwriter James Morrison.
With Extreme E built out of a concern for climate crisis and the championship’s aim to use electric racing to highlight remote environments under the threat of climate change, Andretti United Extreme E’s drivers are well placed to speak about this topic at Monday’s forum.
Catie explained: “When I was asked to speak at Climate Action Live, I didn’t hesitate to accept - this is a cause which is very close to my heart. Through Extreme E, we have been heavily involved in its environmental legacy programme including taking part in a beach clean and planting mangrove trees at our last race in Senegal. It’s very important to keep beating the drum about climate action and to set out practical points to help individuals or organisations get involved – together we can make a difference.”
Timmy added: “The line-up of names who are speaking at Monday’s event is incredible and I feel honoured to have been asked to talk at Climate Action Live alongside such an impressive list of people. Both Catie and I compete in Extreme E which has environmental issues at its core, so it’s important to help champion events such as Climate Action Live which aims to manifest action on a global scale. I’m very much looking forward to being a part of this event and telling our story.”
Peace One Day Founder, Jeremy Gilley, concluded: "The conversation around Climate Action is urgent and recognising that there can be no Peace without a commitment to a more sustainable world, Peace One Day has created the Climate Action Live Global Digital Experience as an annual event to help facilitate that conversation. I am thrilled and grateful to welcome such a diverse and knowledgeable group of individuals to this, our first Climate Action Live event."
Catie and Timmy are scheduled to speak at 18h45 BST / 19h45 CEST on Monday and individuals can register to watch the event live free on the Peace One Day website or on the Peace One Day Twitter account. More information about the event can be found HERE
About Peace One Day
Founded in 1999, Peace One Day is a non-profit organisation that successfully led the campaign which resulted in the unanimous adoption by United Nations member states of the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence with a fixed calendar date – 21 September, the UN International Day of Peace – Peace Day. Since then, Peace One Day has been working to instigate awareness and action on the Day, resulting in a large-scale decrease of violence annually. Is it clear that there can be no peace without a commitment to a culture of Climate Action. It is Peace One Day’s experience with Peace Day that has inspired them to produce: Climate Action Live.
